Fall Revival at Red Bank UMC, October 3rd, 4th and 5th at 6:30pm
Well, it’s that time again when we roll up our sleeves, throw out the sawdust, crank up
the music and bring out the preachers. That’s right, it’s Revival time at Red Bank UMC
so invite your friends, neighbors, children & cousins for great music, singing and
preaching. (Childcare provided for each service)
Special Music will be provided by the Choir and Speakers are listed below:
Seth Barton on Sunday “Youth Emphasis” Night 6:30pm
Seth is currently a seminary student (Middler) at Lutheran Theological Seminary and
works with the youth at Trinity UMC in West Columbia. We are calling this Revival
Night “ Youth Emphasis Night” but it is open to all. Seth, who comes from RBUMC,
is married to Kayla & is the son of Angi and Gary Barton.
Jane Jenkins Herlong is on Monday Night at 6:30pm
Originally from Johns Island, South Carolina, Jane Jenkins Herlong, CSP received her
BA degree from Columbia College and attended graduate school at The College of
Charleston. Jane is a Certified Speaking Professional from the National Speakers
Association which is the highest earned designation in professional speaking.
Jane is a former Miss South Carolina and represented South Carolina in the Miss
America Pageant. Jane is a nationally known professional speaker, award-winning
professional singer, recording artist and published author. Jane has been
privileged to share the stage with many well-known personalities such as: Colin
Powell, Charlton Heston and Rudolph Giuliani.
Jane is a published author appearing in “Guideposts Magazine”, “Successful Farming”,
“Baby Boomer”, and featured in “Today's American Woman” magazine. She is the author
of the book, "Bare Feet to High Heels; You Don't have to Be a Beauty Queen to be a
Beautiful Person." In addition, Jane is a guest newspaper columnist.
Jane has performed the National Anthem at Radio City Music Hall, for the Cincinnati
Reds, Atlanta Hawks, and for numerous national bowl games as well as college and
university football and basketball games across the United States.
Jane is an active member of Harmony United Methodist Church. She is also serves on
the Parent Board at Clemson University, is a Commissioner for Piedmont Technical
College of South Carolina, the Miss South Carolina Pageant Scholarship Foundation
Board, Chair of the National Speakers Association Scholarship Committee and serves
on the Foundation Board of the National Speakers Association.
Jane is the mother of two and married to Thomas Herlong. Jane and her family live
on the family farm in Edgefield County, South Carolina.
The Reverend Ken Nelson will be with on Tuesday Night at 6:30pm.
The Reverend Ken Nelson is a native of Beaufort, South Carolina. He is an honor graduate of
Newberry College having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Religion, and Philosophy.
He earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Duke Divinity School, Duke University and is an Elder
in Full Connection in the South Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Currently, Ken is working on a doctorate of ministry degree in Church Leadership Excellence at
Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. Ken is married to the former Angela Ford, a
certified candidate for ordained ministry within the United Methodist Church and the Director
of Business Controls at IBM in Greenville, SC.
For the last 17 years, Ken has served appointments across the SC Annual Conference including
churches in Sumter, Aiken, Hartsville, and Spartanburg. Additionally Rev. Nelson served as the
Assistant Dean of the Chapel & Director of Religious Life at Duke University Chapel, Durham, NC.
Currently, Rev. Nelson is appointed to serve as a member of the South Carolina Annual Conference
Connectional Ministries Staff as the Congregational Specialist coordinating African American
Ministries. He is frequent featured speaker for United Methodist Men, Women and Youth event
and currently serves as Chair of the SC Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry.
