Missions Team

The Missions Committee function is to support &promote missions within the church, community and world.             
The Committee is responsible for supporting missions, maintaining the mission fund, discerning genuine 
needs, making referrals both for individuals & agencies, increasing awareness of missions within the 
congregation and promoting participation and giving to mission projects.  


Missions supported by Red Bank UMC

Year-round assistance to individuals and families in need with help with utilities, rent/mortgage, 
medicines, gas, food and occasionally overnight lodging. 

UMCOR: One Great Hour of Sharing - general offering donation collected each March 
to support UMCOR throughout the year.

US2 Missions - supporting a leadership development 
experience through peace with justice missions for young adults (20-30 years old).
  
Missions Society - supporting The Ivey family as they work to share God’s word with the 
people of Peru and The Dalenburg Family, career missionaries serving West Africa. 

Operation Christmas Child - provide small gift boxes to kids in all around the world 

Angel Tree - Wanda Stone - provide presents to children of prisoners each Christmas     

Red Cross Blood Drive - Margaret Boggess - donate blood quarterly  

Epworth - general offering collection on Mothers Day

Salkehatchie - Pastor Tommy Wilkes - repair homes for the needy - 1 week event

Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS) - Barb Kirby/Pat Fetner
         -provides aid - financial, food, clothing to people on emergency basis

Meals on Wheels - Carl & Ann Shumpert - to deliver a hot meal to the needy

Christmas in Lexington - Kevin Key - repair homes for those in need - 1 day event in April or May 
annually
                     
Bible Project - Alison Crosby - to have a supply of children & adult bibles on hand for those 
who cannot afford their own.    

Sonny’s Helping Hands - provide minor household repairs for members & those in the community

Domestic Abuse Center - Pastor Wilkes - provide space (the Hut) for members to meet once a week

Adopt a Family for Christmas- Joey Azzara - provide Christmas presents for local families in need

Community Christmas Dinner by the Wilson’s.

We also provide financial support for Red Bank members wishing to go on a Mission trip, to other fundraising 
events put on by different groups within our church, i.e., the Souperbowl of Caring each January, 
Meals March, our Sonshine kids VBS mission and more.  We also support various agency in the Columbia/
Lexington area with monthly donations when possible, i.e. - the Oliver Gospel Mission, Sistercare, 
Killingworth, and others to mention a few.

works, financial support or otherwise.  Everyone is welcome to come to our regular meetings on each
N.O.W. meeting night, the 3rd Monday of each quarter.   If you wish more information on any individual
