Goals and Objectives of the Christian Education Team
Increase Average Weekly Attendance and Participation in Sunday School over the next year by 10%.
Develop & implement an Attendance Program, a campaign to invite others to Sunday School, and reach out to members not participating. Led by Education Team

SUNDAY SCHOOL HAPPENINGS


Sunday School classes meet at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning and all would welcome your presence. We have several classes to choose from as well as special classes that are offered through out the year. The Education Team would be happy to assist you in any way possible as we seek to grow together spiritually. Please call any of us or talk with us on Sunday morning. We appreciate your prayers and welcome your input as we seek to build God's kingdom together in Jesus Christ. The C.E. team meets quarterly at each NOW night.

We have many Adult Classes as well as age level appropriate classes for our children from Toddler - Age 2 through Senior High Class.

We also have an infant nursery so infants are invited to join us each Sunday where they receive quality care in our nursery equipped with cribs, toys and all necessary facilities. Our Nursery Sunday School teachers ensure your child is well cared for so that you may participate in your class assured that your child is comfortable and happy. Come and join us soon


CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Adult Classes

Alpha Class - room #7

TEACHERS - Frieda Snelgrove and Kevin Key.
The Alpha Class is made up of young adults and married couples. With weekly lessons designed for discussion, this class provides the perfect opportunity for sharing, relating to and supporting each other as we seek guidance and inspiration for our daily lives through the study of God’s word.

JKH Class - room # 13

TEACHERS - Volunteers from Class The J.K.H. Class invites all to come and study the Word of God as it applies to each of us in our everyday lives. We have fun with each other in Christian fellowship as well as praying hard for each other in Christian love. All adults from young to seniors, single or married. We use the Cokesbury Adult Bible Studies. Our class welcomes everyone to come in and be part of our family. As a family, we share every Sunday morning our joys and concerns in an unbroken circle, lift our voices to God. We enjoy pulling together to work for our many church activities as well as loading the church bus to go to supper. We laugh, discuss, fuss, pray and love each other…we are a family. Our goal for our class is to grow in our walk with the Lord helping each other through our study and prayer and helping all though our actions.

John Wesley Fellowship Class - room #2

TEACHERS -Volunteers from the Class
A mature - senior adult couples and singles class ranging in age 50 - 80. Uses the International Lesson Series - Adult Bible Study, with 9 rotating lesson leaders from within the class; lecture style teaching along with open class participation and discussion. Average attendance: 25. This class is very active socially including a monthly eat-out, quarterly socials and several class trips during the year. Sponsors the annual Mother’s Day bulletin to benefit the Building Fund and prepares and distributes Christmas ‘goody baskets to elderly and shut-in members of the church. Great personal fellowship through bible study, meditation and prayer highlight this class. All are welcome.

Men’s Bible Class - room #6

TEACHERS - Volunteers from the Class
The Men’s Bible Class is made up of men from teen-age years on up. Our focus is to learn God’s word in a way that is applicable in our everyday walk. We have members of our class that take turns leading each class. It is very important to us that God remains first in our lives. We are a friendly and growing class. Everyone is invited and welcomed to come to our class. We help fund different activities in the church. We are also active in the Kitchen during Sonshine Kids. TLC2 - room - Parlor

TEACHERS - Lonnie Winkler
The Learning Class (aka Tender Loving Care) meets in the Parlor. This is a discussion based class open to all ages focused on spiritual growth and living the surrendered Christian life.

Faith Builders - room # 15 - Chapel

TEACHERS - Jenny Fox & Volunteers from the class
If you want to Build your Faith through God’s Word, then this is the Sunday School class for you. Through prayer, open discussion, and weekly Lectionary we gain wisdom in God’s truth and apply it to our daily lives. Please join us as we Build Our Faith together. This class consist of young couples and singles and is open to discussion.

Y.E.A.H. Class - room - Parlor

TEACHERS -Seth Barton
The Young Adults Excited About Him Class is made up of young adults and couples from ages 18 to 30 meeting in the Children’s Education Building. We study the Bible and how it applies to our day-to-day lives using videos, sharing and discussion. We use our class to seek guidance for our daily lives through the study of God’s word. Mother’s Class - room #5

The Mother's class is comprised of all ladies, single, married and widows, ages 35 and up. Our literature is the Cokesbury Adult Bible Study which we enjoy discussing & sharing the views of each other as it pertains to our life as Christians. Our focus is to learn more about the Bible, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ & God’s will for us. We are an open & friendly class & would like to invite all ladies looking for a Class to drop by room #5 and join us.

Open Doors - room #4

TEACHERS - Volunteers from the Class
Our class focuses on prayer, bible exploration, self-discovery, discussion and encouragement. The wide range of ages, status in life, ideas and experiences within the class stimulates lively and thought provoking consideration. People of all ages are welcome in this class and we invite you to come as we explore Christ together and seek to grow in Christian Discipleship.

Youth Classes

9th-12th Graders-The Youth Hut

TEACHERS - Terry & Elaine Taylor
We welcome all 9th-12th graders to join us for a time of discovery of how God unfolds throughout all of life. As we learn that we are created to pursue an authentic relationship with Our Creator; that we belong to Jesus Christ and that we exist every day to demonstrate God's love to a broken world. Join us as we accomplish this through Bible study, fellowship, games and refreshments every Sunday morning 10:00am down at the Youth Hut and become what God calls us to be.

7th and 8th Grade Class - room #12

TEACHERS - TBA
All Youth in the 7th and 8th grade are welcome to come to the class and learn more about the Methodist faith, their faith and their relationship with God.

Children’s Classes

5th & 6th Grade Class - room #9

TEACHERS ­ Allison Snelgrove & volunteeers
We welcome our 5th and 6th grade students to join us in Classroom #9 in the Children’s Education Building. Our weekly lesson has a Bible Study, a story and Bible scripture. We share in reading the lesson and the scriptures. The students share in a discussion to answer the questions posed in the lesson. We have a prayer where each student has an opportunity to share joy and concerns. Our goals include having the students talk more about things in the daily lives that they would like to discuss.

3rd and 4th Grade Class - room #11

TEACHERS - Nancy Azzara & Lissa Hill
3rd & 4th graders are invited to join us in classroom # 11 in the Children's Education Building. We enjoy studying the Bible together using a variety of methods using Exploring Faith Middle Elementary curriculum including sharing, discussion, crafts, and memorization. We help our children memorize the books of the Bible in preparation for promotion. Our goal is continue to help our children understand that the Bible is our guide for our lives.

1st and 2nd Grade Class - room #10

TEACHERS -Mary Lou Arant and Bunnie Jeffcoat
1st and 2nd graders are invited to attend our class to explore the Bible and relate it to our lives today. We meet in the Children’s Education Building (Classroom # 10). We study our Bible lessons using handouts, crafts, and visual aids. We discuss and share during our class time. Our goal is to help our children understand that the Bible is the Word of God and will serve as a foundation for our lives.

Kindergarten (4 & 5 Year Olds) - room #8

TEACHERS - Missy McMakin & Mac McMakin
Kindergarteners are invited to attend our class to explore the Bible and relate it to our lives today. We use Christian literature appropriate for kindergarteners and meet in Classroom # 8. We reinforce Bible lessons with handouts, crafts, and visual aids. Our goal is to see the class obtain a basic knowledge of the Bible to serve as a foundation to build upon in the future.

Nursery II (Toddlers - 2 & 3 Year Olds) - room # 1b

TEACHERS - Kim Boney, John & Kendra Hucks
We understand that each child is a "one-of-a-kind"ť child of God and encourage each one to express their uniqueness. We consider it a privilege and a joy to teach your child the Bible and pray that God would work through us as we teach. We meet in the new Education Building (Classroom # 1B). We use Shake It Up curriculum to learn about the Bible and the love of Jesus through story telling and hands-on activities. We include song and dance with hand motions to reinforce our weekly lesson. We strive to make God’s word come alive by making learning fun and interactive. Our goals include teaching each child to pray their own personal prayers and encourage them to include prayer in their daily lives, memorize Bible verses and apply them, learn ways to praise and worship God, and prepare the foundation for the child to receive Christ as Savior and follow His example in Godly living.
