Goals and Objectives
Once established, the Prayer team will lead and establish plans to implement the following goals:
Rekindle a spirit of prayer throughout the Church by Implementing a Prayer Team to include one Youth
representative plan and implement a Prayer Sunday with prayer commitment cards. Increase awareness
of Prayer Ministries and Prayer Room to include; established hours; develop a prayer cards to be
more specific and geared to our church’s needs. Tracking use by asking people to drop a stone into
the bowl whenever then enter the prayer room. Reach out into the Community for Prayer Opportunities
(such as Prayer for Law enforcement officers, exterior prayer boxes, prayer boxes in retail
establishments, engage shut ins as Prayer Partners).
Clearly, Scripture indicates that the church of Jesus Christ should be a "House of Prayer." Here
at Red Bank UMC we encourage every member and visitor to pray and to teach prayer in all that we do.
Below are several opportunities you might consider becoming involved in as we seek to be a "House
of Prayer" and individuals who practice the discipline of prayer.
Prayer Boxes (lift ticket boxes)

Prayer Room - Presently our Prayer Room is located in the church office wing with an exterior
door labeled Prayer Room. There is an Altar with a kneeling bench, and couch complementing our small
"Prayer Chapel". We are encouraging all of our members to visit this Prayer Chapel and to use it
as a place to get away and be with God. Please drop a stone into the bowl when you visit the Prayer
Room. Whether for ten minutes or two hours, all are invited to pray and to visit this place specifically
designed as a place to go to God in Prayer. The prayer Chapel is open at all times. The entrance
code is 7729 enter.
Prayer Partners - These are people who commit to a certain time of prayer in the Prayer
Room each week. These individuals will pray for public and confidential prayer requests given to
the church. If you desire to be a prayer partner, please contact Cindy Harmon at 951-7331 or the
church office.
Pray Down at Noon - Each member is encouraged to pause each Thursday at noon to pray for
the church, and those who are unchurched. United Methodist Churches throughout the nation are
in prayer during this time. The Church Chimes are scheduled to ring during this time to remind
those within the sound of hearing to pray.
Prayer Partners before Worship - If you would be willing to lead a prayer for the Pastor,
Choir and Musicians before a worship service on Sunday Mornings please let the office know or
sign up on your "Stewardship Sheet." During these times of prayer the hearts and minds of the
congregational gathering and the leadership will be lifted.
Altar Prayers - The Church Altar is always open during the final hymn of each Worship Service
for those who would to come forward and lift your prayers before God.
Prayer Time in your Homes - If you are not currently praying with your spouse, your family
or as an individual we encourage you to read the Upper Room and extend the prayer at the end
to include prayers of thanks and persons in need and to explore models of prayer found in the
church library. We encourage you to use the Lord's Prayer as a model for how to pray.
Prayer Chain - We here at Red Bank host a Prayer Chain that can be activated in a case of
emergency to have many praying for persons in need. To activate the Phone Prayer Chain, call
Cindy Harmon. We also have an Email Prayer Chain link for non-urgent requests. For non-urgent
requests, you may contact the office and Alison Crosby will initiate a email response to all
members of the email prayer chain for prayer once a day.
